2006 Season Wrap-up
The St. Joseph 2006 Varsity (7th-8th Grade) Baseball
Team jelled in time for the Metro Catholic
League Tournament to win the Consolation Bracket
Championship. The league regular season record
was 1-5, but a 2-1 record in the tournament resulted in a 3-6 overall
record. The
highlight of the regular season schedule was a grand slam home run by
Peter
Ickes in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Blessed Sacrament 7-5
for the only win. The team won the Consolation Championship
behind the pitching of Ryan Mains and Shane Peot, and the offensive
explosion of
the entire team. Playing for the championship in Riverfront
Stadium in Waterloo, home of the Waterloo Bucks, provided the
players with a valuable experience.
