Stamp Act

Results of the Revolutionary War

Intolerable Acts

The Declaration of Independance

Townshend Acts

Boston Tea Party

Would we have gone to war with Britain if we declared independence from them? We vote yes. We wanted freedom from the British government and be free from their unfair treatments. The British were almost enforcing a dictator-like attitude towards the colonies, so it would be an appropriate action.
What were the major points that made you decision? First off, the Townshend Acts put an unreasonable tax on imports. It also was quickly abolished and put a major tax on tea. Second, the intolerable acts violated our rights as British citizens (that's what we were at the time) by denying us the right to hold meetings and forcing us to shelter foriegn soldiers in our own homes. Lastly, the Stamp Act caused a horrible mail system and it cost a lot of money to send letters anywhere.
Did All members agree with the decision? Yes we did. We all discussed why the British were being unfair and all made equal decisions on our answer.
What are the alternatives to war? We could have negotiated a treaty with the British.  We would pay the war debt and still become independent. We did not feel thath the British would allow that solution. Plus, they attacked us first, so it's fair.
